Poker chips have been manufactured from a wide range of materials in an almost endless selection of styles since the birth of gambling and the need to track winnings. The most commonly seen materials used today in the manufacture of cutting-edge poker chips are plastic, clay, and acrylics. Clay chips, the primary of the bunch, have been made in the US since the late 1800s.
Back in the 19th century, poker enthusiasts seemed to use any tiny item with value imaginable. Early poker players at times used rough gold pieces as well as chips – mainly made of wood and clay. By the 1900s, poker chip designs began to play a greater prominence, and the smooth edges of older chips were given up to chips with slits to keep them neatly stacked with each other.
There is little or no debate that poker has expanded constantly in acceptance ever since its beginnings in the 1800s. With the explosive increase of web gambling and unique TV shows, community interest in poker has accelerated a lot faster than ever before. Many individuals are first introduced to poker by television showslike "Celebrity Poker" or the Travel Channel’s "World Poker Tour," and most will gamble on their initial hands on the web. Regardless of web poker’s rise, nothing competes with the feeling of shuffling weighty poker chips in your hand, throwing chips into the center of a casino table, or stacking tall pilesstacks of chips after displaying a victorious hand.
