Howard Lederer grew up in a family of 5 where he liked playing various card games at a young age. He found himself becoming really aggressive in these card games as he was playing his father. After finishing Sr. High school, Howard decided to put college on hold for a bit and relocated to New York City to compete in some formidable chess. While participating in chess, he was brought in to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s 1st two years were difficult as he played extensive hours and lost a majority of the time. He earned some extra cash by being an assistant for the poker players. He theorized he possibly could improve his game by adjusting his life outside of poker. He brought about an effort to acquire more rest and focus even more on poker.

The real improvement in his game began when he began betting at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the greatest gamblers would often compete against each other. He was able to access a few of the best players in chess. With their assistance, Howard Lederer would hone his cunning thinking abilities. Howard used these strategic ideas in the game of No-Limit holdem.

He also helped his sister Annie Duke master poker. Annie was a great student of the game as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the proper decision. Howard Lederer told Annie Duke to head out to Las Vegas and compete in the WSOP tournaments. Annie Duke is one of the greatest women players the poker arena has ever seen. He moved to Sin City in Nineteen Ninety Three and participated in cash games for the following 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament grew in popularity, Howard made the decision to participate in more tournaments.
