Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender in the world by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. He routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an undying passion for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
