Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the last poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest gamblers in the world. While competing in net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amount. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best players anywhere in the world could be players you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in money games?
