Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental comments from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
