Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve closing poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best enthusiasts around the world. While wagering on net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amount. I think television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes Omaha and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
