Internet poker has become world famous recently, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game events. Its universal appeal, though, stretches back in fact a bit further than its television scores. Over the years several variations on the first poker game have been developed, including a few games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these particular games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with chemin de fer than traditional poker, in that the gamblers bet against the house rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is no concealment or other kinds of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up before the dealer declares "No further wagers." At that point, both you and the dealer and of course all of the different players receive five cards. After you have observed your hand and the dealer’s initial card, you need to in turn make a call bet or give up. The call bet’s amount is akin to your original wager, indicating that the risks will have increased two fold. Bowing out means that your wager goes immediately to the house. After the bet comes the showdown. If the house doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your wager is given back, plus a figure on par with the initial bet. If the house does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand defeats the casino’s hand. The dealer pony’s up chips even with your initial bet and controlled expectations on your call bet. These odds are:
- Even for a pair or high card
- 2-1 for two pairs
- three to one for three of a kind
- four to one for a straight
- 5-1 for a flush
- seven to one for a full house
- 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
- 50-1 for a straight flush
- 100-1 for a royal flush
