Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
